顺序
顺序就是事情发生的先后，也可以把它称为时间的先后次序。在现实生活中，我们总是先做一件事，再做另一件事。一个故事的发生也是按照时间顺序进行的。故事中，通常是一件事情引发了另一件事情。所以，故事中的事件通常是按照事件发生的顺序讲述的。如：The little girl sat on the floor and cried. Her mom ran to her and held her in her arms.有时候作者在讲述故事的时候没有按照事情发展顺序进行。你只能借助线索词找出事件发生的顺序。如：Turn off the TV before you leave the room. 句中的两个动作“关电视”和“离开房间”哪个先发生，由before这个词可以表明。类似的可以表示事件发生顺序的词有：after, while, then, next, first 和last等。另外，事件发生的自然顺序也是线索。 在下面的四期报纸中，你将读到很多文章。在阅读的时候要寻找文章的线索，了解事件发生的先后顺序，然后回答有关事件顺序方面的问题。

Kids, do you know the world is getting warmer because we are doing something bad? There are already some changes happening because of global warming1. The sea level2 is rising and some animals are moving to new homes. More seas and less land are fine for penguins and fish, but it’s not good at all for people or other land animals. If the warming gets worse, there may be no plants or animals forever, because they can’t move to new homes. There may be more storms and floods. The sea level may rise so high that people have to move away. Lots of people will go hungry and many more will have nowhere to live.
It’s bad, right? So, what can we do to stop global warming?
Everyone can do some very simple things to help stop global warming.
★Turn off the lights when you leave a room.
★Turn off your computer or TV when you’re not using them.
★Wait until you have a lot of clothes to wash before using the washing machine.
★Take shorter showers. ★Dress warmly when it’s cold instead of turning up the heat.
★Walk as much as possible.
★Plant a tree.
★Learn more about global warming so you can talk to people about it.
