I’ve been an English teacher just less three mouths, so I’m new. But just in the 3 mouths, I taste the sour, sweet, bitter and hot of a teacher. Let’s share them together.
When I was a Normal School student, I thought being a Primary School teacher was going to be easy——the knowledge is easy, the pupils are cute and vivid, …… But I found it is not true on the first day of me teaching. I decided to make friend with every student. I’ll cooperate and get on well with them. However, many problems occurred between us.
I still remember the first lesson of my reaching clearly. I was very nervous before going to the classroom although they are just a gang of pupils. I was residing the sentences that I should say first in order to make them be interested in English, and considering how to organize the class on the way to the classroom of Class 3 Grade 3. But as I walked near the door, I heard furniture crash. Rounding the corner, I saw one boy pinning another to the floor. Suddenly I was angry. I shouted at the students to sit down, they took their seats slowly. After two minutes, I tried to teach the lessons I had prepared, but the times had left and my brain was empty. This is my first lesson. Today I’ll say: “It is not easy to be a Primary School teacher.” You need to know children. You are good at drawing, singing, dancing. You are fond of children. Besides, you also need to be good at using different teaching techniques which work with children……
Although my first lesson was failed, but I know students are children after all. They are naturally curious and active. And in my later teaching, children gave me lots of joyous. They are full of enthusiasm. They often give your a brilliant answer. And if you use singing, chant, games, puzzles, and other children’s interested active, they can learn English well, but don’t forget to encourage them.
I feel happy when my students said: “Happy Teacher’s Day!” with a flower on teacher’s day; I feel happy when I heard: “Hello! Miss Chen.” or “Good morning Miss Chen” ……in the school yard.
I considered why I teach. Teach give me pace, and variety, and challenge, and the opportunity to keep on learning. I like to ask questions that students struggled to answer. I enjoy finding ways of making friends with them. I like they struggled to help me take the tape and books when class was over. I like to talk with them and solve their questions whether in study or in life.
As a new English teacher, I’m finding a way to teach English well according my character and my students. I’ll keep learning in order to be a good English teacher in the shortest time, in order to make my students to be the best English learner.
