Module 6 BASKETBALL IS MORE POPULAR THAN BADMINTON
Unit 1 I think the high jump is more difficult than the long jump.
Step 1 Warming up
1） Check the Ex. in last module.
2) Review comparative degree and superlative degree.
T: Now, I want to find some No.1 in our class. For example:
Who is the tallest in our class? Who can jump the highest in our class?
…
Ok, now it’s up to you to find out the No.1s.
(Ask the Ss to ask and answer by themselves.)
3) Lead to the text
T: Now we have compared many things. And I know most of you are fond of sports, right? So today let’s compare some sports games.
Step 2 Look and listen. Then repeat.
Ask the Ss to watch the video carefully.
T: What kinds of sports games can you find in the dialogue?
1)Take out some pictures about sports games, and ask the Ss to match the names with the games.
2)Practise the names altogether, then one by one.
3)Let the Ss to do Ex.3 one by one, then check altogether.
Play the video again. This time, ask the Ss to find out all the comparative degree and superlative degree in the text.
T: We compared the sports games. Last time we also compared a lot of things. Have you found any differences?
Then conclude the rules of comparative degree and superlative degree. (some plus er/est; some plus more/most)
4)Ask the students to practise the adjectives in the text.
5)Play the tape and let them follow the text.
Step 3 Drills
Ask the students to list some adjectives (some ones that should use more/most to modify) on the blackboard. Then ask them to make sentences with those words and the words of sports games.
Eg. S1: I think basketball is more difficult than football.
